Admission

Report Card is required for all stuents entering Kindergaren - Elementary

The goal of our admissions is to ensure a good match between your family's values, your child and objectives for your children and those of our school. Our school is a school community that upholds values that rare in today's world. We are looking for families with similar goals who are seeking a school that reflects their values and philosophy. We work closely with parents as an extension of the home.

Rosedale Christian School is a co-ed school which starts at Kindergarten through to Elementary grades eight. We are a Christian-based, mission-driven school and we seek students who are bright, self-motivated and willing to work to achieve personal success. Prospective students and their families who are interested in applying to RCS are strongly encouraged to visit our school or an Open House and talk to our teachers, current students and their families about their experiences at RCS.

We also accept students for our lower division, Rosedale Gifted Academy Preschool, RGAP. Our lower division accepts preschool age students - Smart And Alert 2-Year Old Explorers.

The Application Process
1. Parent Visit
Contact the Admissions Office to arrange an initial visit. A visit may be arranged at any time throughout the year. During the visit, families will meet with an Admissions officer and tour the Division to which their child would be applying.

2. Application
Mail in or drop off a completed application with $100 application fee to the Admissions Office. Registration Fee must be paid at the time the package is given to parents.

3. Student Visit (Orientation)
Call the Admissions Office to arrange for you and your child to visit the school. The visiting day will vary depending on the age of the prospective student. Elementary students are required to spend a half day in the prospective student's new class.

Applicants for elementary - Kindergarten will be asked to come in for a half day at our school. During the visit, students are observed and given a chance to meet with their prospective teacher, the principal and the Edu Director for a developmental screening which takes approximately half hour. Parents may accompany their child but will not be allowed to participate or be in the same room with the candidate.

4. Admissions Testing
Preschool through to Elementary, Grade 1-6 students normally complete their Admissions screenings on the day they visit the school. Testing is our school's regular standardized testing. Parents may call the school to schedule an appoint for testing. Tests are administered Monday - Friday, between the hours of 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM - by appointment only.

5. Reservation Appointment
Reservation (appointment) is a must as space is limited. An application will be distributed at that time of registration. Applicants should return the application with the applicable fees.

6. Submission of Report Card
Kindergarten - Elementary applicants must submit a copy of their recent report card. If accepted, notification of acceptance will follow, at which time the security deposit, registration fees and contracts are due in order to hold the space.

7. Mandatory - Summer Camp Program
It is mandatory that all Pre-K and Kindergarten applicants attend at least a month of our summer program. This will allow our new students to settle in prior to attending our full time program. Students wll be tested during the summer session. Parents who wish to accompany their child during the time of testing is required to notify the school first. Parents will not be allowed to sit-in with the child during testing.

8. Kindergarten And Elementary Students Day of Observation
Kindergarten - Elementary school students will be brought in for a day of observation and will be tested during that time. All parents must attend the mandatory orientation meeting for new students.

9. Testing
All applicants are tested before they are placed in classes. Parents are asked to ensure that an appointment testing/assessment date is sset before students enter school.

How To Apply
1. Call to arrange a tour - Call the Admissions Office (718-978-3996 to schedule an appointment for you and your child to come in for an interview.

2. Complete the Admission Application and return same with your Registration Fee of $100. Please make your check payable to Rosedale Gifted Academy. The application fee is nonrefundable.

3. Once we receive your Application for Admission, Registration Fee, and all required student records, we will call you to schedule a convenient time for a parent interview, a full-day or half-day student visit, and an in-school assessment testing for your child.

Decision Day
Decisions will be made on a rolling basis as space allows. Please note that admission is based on a first come first serve basis. Once our classes are full, then all other students are placed on our waiting list.

Method of Payment - Currently, we only accept checks or Money Order. No cash payment please.
