Quick Stat
Rosedale
Christian School (RCS) students are exposed to a wide variety of challenging and
traditional classes that readily come to mind when one considers a good education.
We add to those courses a special mix of learning experiences to ensure that the
physical, spiritual, and ethical core of our children are equally enriched and
developed. We offer a rich core curriculum designed to engage students in a rigorous
and multifaceted ways. Classes align with the developmental growth of our students
and are taught with an awareness of each individual's strengths and learning styles.
Every good parent hopes and dreams are for their children to attend a good school - and not only a good school but the right foundational school, then on to college. And then again, not any college but the right college, the optimism is an Ivy League college, or a nearby public university with a great reputation. We all think about where we want our children to go to college and we set out on a quest for the right foundation - the right fit with a good prep school. Those were the foundational traits on which our school is built; to give students the best education so they can enter the best high schools and then on to colleges, and then onward to be outstanding contributors to our society.
The Faculty and Staff of Rosedale Christian School, RCS and inclusive of our lower division - (RGAP), know that you are already thinking about college for your child and we are here to give your child that good start in the right direction. Our line of approach is simple - we offer the best academic program at one of the best private Christian Schools in the area. We develop an individualized program for each student. Our students excel in their passions, and foster new interests. They are offered challenging and rigorous coursework at all levels and in all academic subjects as is appropriate for pre-school level, kindergarten - elementary, our focus point as we teach is 'college bound students' and not any college, but the best colleges. Our prep school programs set the foundation and allow each student to create a path that allows them to achieve their goals. This is the precursor that sets the course and prepares students to position to the next level - kindergarten and then on to elementary. Yet, there is more to our academic program than academics. Each student is given clear academic direction and support. Beginning at Pre-Kindergarten level, students accept leadership roles - they volunteer, they are in clubs (Circle of Friends Reading Club), they participate in physical education (Fun Fridays) and they show leadership qualities and approaches, and the opportunities grow as students mature.
RCS is proud to offer an exceptional academic program that successfully prepares students for admission to many top middle/secondary and high schools, and eventually college. Academics at RCS are structured using a thematic approach (a theme approach) that both intensifies and accelerates learning. Our goal is to foster critical thinking in students so that they can become skillful, confident, and high academic achievers.
Our course of study focuses on the foundations of knowledge: Language Arts, Mathematics, Science Health , The Bible, Science, Social Studies, Computer Instruction, Spanish, Physical Education, Music, Health And Fitness, the Arts, reading readiness skills, logics, writing, critical thinking, History, Geography, and Research. Early mastery of these basics prepares students for advance studies and learning at an accelerated pace. We place strong emphasis on core subjects - a comprehensive curriculum. The goal is not only to teach mastery of the subjects but also to develop enthusiastic interest and a strong sense of confidence in each student. Standardized test preparation is part of our curriculum. Our teachers foster critical thinking skills through discussion, coursework and tests.

encourages students to pursue independent thought and research in a balanced environment.
Starting from our lower division (RGAP) our students continue to demonstrate the
value of acquiring knowledge, developing strong study habits, and mastering academic
skills. Over 75% of our schools' faculty hold advanced degrees - Masters and higher,
another 25% hold their BA - all our teachers are trained, licensed and qualified.
PUPIL
/ FACULTY RATIO
A low pupil-faculty ratio and small class sizes
mean our teachers really know and understand your child. Our pupil-faculty ratio
is approximately 6:1 with a ceiling of 15.1 the most. There is one homeroom teacher
per class.
Testing
And Evaluation
Assessments tests are used for the purpose of
recognizing strengths and weaknesses and for planning programs for academic development.
Standardized tests are administered to aid in placement of students in to the
appropriate classes. It is also used to gather information to help the teacher
plan effective academic programs, and to monitor year-to-year academic achievement.
Teacher-made tests are used to teach test-taking strategies, help students develop
study skills, and assess the students' understanding of concepts. Rosedale Christian
Schools (RGAP and RCS) do administer test and support an ongoing quarterly progress
report.

Evaluations
("Report Cards")
Students receive quarterly evaluations
and assessment each school year. The evaluations mark the students' progress in
each subject, and indicate strengths and weaknesses of specific skills in each
subject. Social development and work/study skills are also indicated. After each
marking periods, parents are given the opportunity to meet with each class teacher
for a conference.
Homework
Complete homework preparation is important as it provides reinforcement and practice, develops independent learning habits, and frees class time for instruction and for enrichment activities. The most positive ways parents can assist their children are by providing a definite time and an appropriate place for study, by showing interest in what their children are learning, and by understanding the expectations of the teacher. Homework papers may be checked and signed off by parents / guardians as a way of showing parental interest in student work or to be sure homework is complete, but homework should never be corrected by parents: children learn from their own mistakes, and teachers need to be aware of where students are having difficulty and success in order to evaluate progress and to determine areas which need further attention from the teacher. Teachers have the discretion to assign homework at every class meeting. Students are strongly encouraged to maintain a regular schedule of homework preparation.
With our accelerated academic programs, by the end of eighth grade, students have not only mastered skills, but have also gained a growing understanding of how things that are learned in the classroom are connected to each other, to the outside world and to their own lives. They are ready for the next stage of their education: the intellectual excitement and challenges of middle and high schools -- Ready, Set, Go!
Come join us... right now the light for your child to achieve academically is green, soon it will change to amber then to red! Act now for a brighter future for your child.
